“I went the last three years of High School in California and currently live in my home state of Kentucky. I come back to visit every year and four months ago I booked a flight to LA to go to my HS reunion in October, arriving Oct 5th. Little did I know that this trip would bring so much excitement and make it my best trip ever back to CA. The stars were aligned for me.
I was fortunate to attend the RU party. See DaveG and Josh Souza’s post for the details and I won’t repeat his post, he says it all, but I wanted to give my spin on the nights events.
Arrival: I got into LA at 10:20 am and had made prior arrangements with Scott Long (BB5) to meet him at his gate at 11:15am. We got the rental car and took off to Venus Beach to walk amongst the shops, waiting until it was time to check into the hotel. It was a fun time getting to know each other, I had watched this guy on TV and live feeds all summer, I knew him, and I wanted him to know me as well. After all, we were going to spend the next 26 hours doing the LA scene.
The Day: I already had an outfit ready for the RU Party, but wanted to see if I could find something more “LA” to wear. We took off to the Beverly Center. Scot helped me pick out a really WILD shirt, but then since I only brought brown shoes, I now needed black ones! … More shopping. I then ran into a more conservative shirt, and got it too. We struck up a conversation with a lady waiting for the elevators and in a matter of seconds we found out she was Charlotte Johansson’s Stylist!
I pulled my “Wild Shirt” out and she approved!
Getting Ready: Back to the hotel to get ready and try to relax a little (As If!) We got on line to check out TFB and see the excitement building, I showered and shaved and cut myself in 2 places DOH! Scott started to decide what to wear and I got to witness a Mandana in the making! Although her ultimately decided not to sport this look. Cell phones ringing with a reality star on the other end of each call, I stated to get excited, Scott handed me the phone and Lori from BB5 was on the other end! It was like talking to an old friend, telling her to get to the hotel and ride in the Limo with us! (see DaceG’s post)
I went out to the street to look for the Limo and walking down the sidewalk I got my first look at Lori and Todd, I said very loudly LORI! I think I was shocked her, because she had no idea who I was LOL, she said.. You recognized me? uhh HELLO! She and Todd are wonderful people.
The Party: The staff at CLE made every guest feel like a celebrity, The commitment to make this a first class event was unreal. Pictures are worth a thousand words and there are plenty of posted pictures. All I can say is THANKS again and again. My best moments? Meeting Mrs ScottZ, Meeting Reichen and Charlie, ERIKA – WOW, BlueFish, Mark, Paul, Eric, ScottZ, Jobe, Bree, Nancy, RichT, Val and Kaya, Caleb….. the list goes on. Did I mention everyone was SOOOO Nice? OK, at one point Scott found me at the party and said.. Jerry – Walter! I said yeh right, you are messing with me! See Walter and I talk on AIM a lot more often than we talk in the chat area. I only met him recently at TFB but we have become good internet buds. He never told me he was attending and I never confirmed I was going to be there either, But he did know I was picking Scott up at the airport, so he had a good idea. It was great to meet him.
After Party: You probably have already heard about me driving Josh home to put his car to be, Erika and the gang following behind. I met 4 of the dog, I don’t think they liked me
Erika has some great Birds of Paradise in her front yard.
It was just like a huge group of friends out on the town, so much fun. I was feeling very lucky to be with such a great bunch.
Back to the Hotel: Quickly crashing (25 hours awake) I was too tired to dream and the alarm clock came way too early. Scott informed me I snored like a Savage. I am just glad there were not cameras on me w/ night vision to capture those sounds and 75 people to post about it! LOL
I returned Scott to the airport for his return to Pittsburgh. 24 hours earlier I met for the first time a guy I had only see on TV and now was wishing a friend safe travels.
I am still in CA and my HS reunion is this weekend. At one point I was nervous about attending the reunion and seeing everyone after so long, but after Tuesday night, HS reunion will be a piece of cake!
