It has been reported around the web that there are 14 house guests. That is no longer correct. CBS has told Zap2it that one contestant got out to the Los Angeles area in the pre-show sequester and got cold feet, so she chose not to participate in the show. They were sad to lose her, but there are 13 exciting “Big Brother” contestants to meet!
ETA: TVGrapevine has one that works for all:
Sorry Canadian and overseas fans – they blocked it for you all.
Includes house information, Have-not’s return, and an update on the Saboteur Twist – which is below
CBS’S SUMMER SENSATION “BIG BROTHER” WELCOMES 13 NEW HOUSEGUESTS TO THE HOUSE ON THURSDAY, JULY 8
For the first time in the history of the series, one contestant will not be playing to win the half million dollar prize. Instead, this Houseguest will play the role of the Big Brother Saboteur, whose sole mission will be to disrupt the lives of their fellow Houseguests.
Upon moving into the house on premiere night, Houseguests will discover that one of them is not really there to win the game, but rather to sabotage their fellow players. While the saboteur’s identity will remain a secret to the Houseguests, America will learn his/her identity on Thursday, July 15, during the first LIVE show. If the Saboteur is able to make it to the halfway point of the game, a financial reward awaits. Fans can tune into the premiere on July 8 or visit http://www.cbs.com/bbtwist to learn more about how they can submit viewer suggestions.
Update:
“THIS JUST IN: Big Brother cast to be revealed tomorrow at 8:40am on CBS Early Show.”
Meet Big Brother’s new Houseguests on the CBS EARLY SHOW tomorrow morning! #BigBrother #BB
Big Brotherproducers are adding another level of treachery a la The Mole with what they’ve labeled a “saboteur.“
When the show premieres Thursday, July 8 at 8/7c on CBS, one of the houseguests will have a separate mission: to sabotage the rest of them. This player’s goal will be unknown to the rest of the cast. Viewers, however, will learn the person’s identity July 15 — when the first live show airs.
The show — one of summer TV’s guiltiest pleasures — features contestants living with and competing against each other to win $500,000. Their every move is captured on cameras rolling 24 hours a day.
Viewers will be able to influence the game by suggesting ways the saboteur can best wreak havoc on the players. Because each week a different houseguest is evicted, the longer the secret player can stay in the game and maintain his anonymity, the more remunerative it will be for him.
Executive producer Allison Grodner calls the person “a game piece … that will make life for the houseguests harder than ever before.”

“Saboteur” Receives Their Suggested Tasks Directly from the Audience
The producers of BIG BROTHER are implementing a major twist for this season’s batch of Houseguests that will top all past seasons. One Houseguest, known as the Big Brother Saboteur, will enter the house to play their own game, unbeknownst to their fellow competitors. The Saboteur’s mission will be to carry out viewer suggestions on how best to disrupt the lives of fellow players.

While the saboteur’s identity will remain a secret to the Houseguests, America will learn his/her identity on Thursday, July 15, during the first LIVE show. And some other information:
This year we’ve gone with darker colors accented with complimentary colors. Very sexy. But it’s still BB and and there is plenty of colors popping out. We’ve had practice HGs playing the game to get the crew back in the habit. We’re ready for the real HGs to get in there. It looks GREAT! We’re very pleased.
In the kitchen is teal and yellow. The staircase is also yellow. A gaggle of flamingo lounge under the stairs.
Outside the HOH door, think Miami night life for the wall paper. Pink Neon by door. Palm trees that go all the way down and appear in the wall.
In the spa is a big 6 person bed.
My favorite room is the bathroom. Stripes of small yellow, black, and white tiles cover the walls. Will we have a Killer Bee alliance?
The pool table is back.
A new Big Brother commercial aired today.
In it Julie mentioned that one player is not there to win and will be acting as a saboteur.
The fake twitter account has been deleted and confirmed as a hoax. The situation is over – so the post has been collapsed and left up for posterity.
CBS has launched their Big Brother page for the summer!
Not much information up yet aside from 13 blank houseguest spaces – which doesn’t mean a whole lot.
ETA: New Twitter is found here though tweets are still protected. She renamed the original after this news broke.
So here’s an example of a bad idea if you are ever called to be a finalist on a reality show where the casting is still open:
