Article: ‘Brother’ ties with previous high of season

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 3:44 pm by anon

“CBS’ “Big Brother” tied its highest ratings so far this season in the adults 18-49 demographic in Thursday’s primetime.

The preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research are particularly unreliable with football-related pre-emptions on CBS and NBC in about 15% of the U.S. But CBS probably won the night in both viewership and the adults 18-49 demographic, with the other networks further behind. Final results may be released later Friday, and things may change.”

Article: Big Brother Lockdown! Evictees Off-limits to Press

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 11:21 am by anon

“Late Thursday, media outlets including TVGuide.com received the surprising word that neither Big Brother 8’s Amber nor any other upcoming evictees will be made available for “postmortem” interviews. Why the change in long-standing policy? “We have made jury members… available to the press the past two seasons, always with the proviso that their questions not inform the ejected houseguest of influences outside his or her personal experience in the house,” CBS says in a statement. “This season, several cast members have made either offensive statements or exhibited controversial behavior. We respect journalists’ interest and right to pose questions about these matters, but at the same time believe doing so could provide information that influences the final vote and potential outcome of the 12-week competition.” Cue lockdown.”

Article: Fri., 8/31: Are You Mad for Men and Totally Geeked That Amber’s Gone?

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 11:17 am by anon

“Big Brother: I mean, I’ve already ripped Amber a new one, so we won’t go there again. I’ll just say I was glad to see her go. No more meaningless tears or desperate appeals to God to win veto competitions-because you know God’s all about helping good contestants win veto competitions. It’s one of his main concerns up there in heaven.

Okay, so where do we go from here? Who won HOH, and who has a target on their back? “

Article: Episode Recap: Eviction 8

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 11:16 am by anon

“Things really got down and dirty this week as Amber worked hard to save herself. Her strategy of weeding out the “good people” from the bad led her to pit Eric and Jessica against each other. Fortunately, despite her efforts to cast doubt on Eric, he was able to regroup with Jessica, find out about their conversation and undermine Amber’s efforts.”

Article: ‘Big Brother’ Basics

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 11:16 am by anon

“And the eviction goes to: For weeks Amber claimed the game was preordained by the almighty. She and Jameka were destined to be the last two standing, according to one of her many “visions.” But even Amber began to wonder if her visions were just daydreams, leading her to use her waterworks and desperate arguments to help fate along. With Dick and Daniele set against her, and America’s vote instructing an eager Eric to get Amber out, the sole vote to keep the weepy cocktail waitress came from Jameka.
Just a bunch of rats: In “Cat Scratch Veto,” the Cheshire Cat gave players all the answers, all they had to do was hunt through the backyard swamp for rats with the corresponding riddles. The two contestants that wanted the veto the most, Eric and Amber, went head-to-head in the last round. Amber’s last chance slipped away when Eric won and chose not to change the nominations. That move left Amber declaring, “He’s evil. He’s got no soul.” Or he’s just playing the game, one or the other.
The showmance is on: Eric’s second America’s Player task for the week was to lay a wet one on Jessica. Things are getting way too easy for our inside man when his job is to smooch the girl he constantly flirts with. Where’s the voting public’s sense of humor? That task had “Evel” Dick written all over it. Oh, well. It turns out Eric already had his favorite housemate in a lip lock the day before the orders came down, so he banked this one with just a morning after peck.
Win some, lose some: The annual luxury competition called for houseguests to strip down in a pit of suds to win a new wardrobe. Despite a lot of pre-game shyness from the ladies, it was a quick victory for them, as they whipped off their clothes faster than the male contestants and figured out the puzzle. Thrilled with her snazzy new duds, Jameka turned her attention back to saving Amber. She bad-mouthed Eric to Jessica, tried to sway Eric’s vote and advised Amber to pal up with Daniele. Her speed-stripping efforts were far more successful.
Alone again, naturally: On the block, but never really at risk next to Amber, Zach worked both sides of the house trying to avoid sequester. He urged Eric to use the veto to save him and backdoor Dick or Daniele in the process. After Eric failed to take him up on that offer, Zach went to Dick with his new plan to go after Eric and Jessica should he win the next HoH competition. Too bad for Zach the secret alliance between Dick, Daniele, Eric and Jessica ensured that everyone knows that he’s willing to sell them out.
A grueling tea party: Julie Chen invited houseguests to stand next to oversized teapots and help themselves to tiny cups of brew. Only this tea isn’t meant for consumption. The goal is to transport the 3-ounce contents into 16-gallon tanks. With 680 trips required to fill a tank, the equivalent of seven miles of backyard traipsing, it’ll be ages before the new HoH is declared.”

Interview: #5 with Jessica’s Mom

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 11:15 am by anon

“During the past week, many of you have been asking for another interview with Jessica’s mother. Well, it’s always been part of the plans, but some things in this world are bigger than Big Brother… like a son returning home from Iraq… and I really didn’t want to intrude on the family’s time until they’d returned from California. That time has finally come! :)

Article: Fights, slurs, sex: ‘Big Brother’s’ crazy summer

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 11:15 am by anon

“It’s just another summer in the “Big Brother” house. Or is it?

Bloggers have condemned scandalous remarks about incest, race, ethnicity, sex and sexual orientation made by contestants. Message board posters have debated about a physical altercation involving two participants and a lit cigarette. And thousands of YouTube watchers have eavesdropped on one contestant’s unfiltered thoughts about Jewish people.”

Article: The Weepiest Link

Posted on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 11:15 am by anon

“You should know right off the bat that EW.com won’t be talking to Amber today. First, CBS tried to place huge restrictions on our weekly Q&A by forbidding us to ask Amber questions about her anti-Semitic rant. (Up until this week, anything that occurred inside the house was generally fair game for questioning as long as it wouldn’t potentially influence votes in the jury house.) Then, late Thursday, CBS decided that it just wasn’t going to make Amber - or any other future evictee, for that matter - available for interviews until after the finale. Of course we hoped that if the nation’s trusty reporters and bloggers couldn’t ask the hard questions to Amber, then at least Julie ”the journalist” would - that is, until we remembered that moment during BB4 when Julie allowed Erika to walk away without holding her accountable for her little ”fresh off the boat” comment about Jee. Sure enough, BB missed a rare opportunity to play the grownup and discuss what we’ve all been wondering about.”
