“Millions watched Tuesday night as Sebastopol native Maggie Ausburn won $500,000 for being voted the winner of the CBS reality series “Big Brother.”

Relatives in Sonoma County said Maggie, 27 and an emergency room nurse, is exhausted after spending 80 straight days with a houseful of people all vying for the prize.

Brother Sam Ausburn, a vineyards manager in Cloverdale, said Maggie won because “she played the game without having to lie or cheat.”"

Well, TeamKaysar doesn’t seem to even be necessary – apparently websites have to pay for Kaysar to chat on them, so he’s making that $2mil all by himself (and still out of the fan’s wallets). Oh, how I remember the seasons past where HG chatted for free – because they wanted to interact with the fans who made them what they were (for that brief 15 minutes).

But the quote of the night might have come from Howie, who told the finalists: “I’m stuck voting for America’s last choices.” Ah, Howie such a straight shooter, pulling no punches right until the end. Meanwhile, Maggie won the top prize, big surprise. So much for the “Summer of Secrets.” I was hoping that Jen’s vote would be swayed after Maggie denied her involvement in the Kaysar ouster, but I guess not. I also didn’t realize that if Ivette had picked Janelle, the Friendship would have turned on her, per their agreement. Oh, well. I’d love to see a recap a week from now, showing how the sequestered houseguests react when they see themselves on TV. Especially Beau, who will likely be confused by his utter lack of airtime. Only the first-ousted Ashlea made less of an impression, and she didn’t even get to talk during the finale. And though I know I was initially down on James, his honestly delighted face when he saw his girlfriend, Sarah, was so refreshing and sweet that I actually found myself hoping that they can put this whole experience behind them and stay together. Me, I’m just glad to get back my three-plus hours a week (reading about the live feeds can really suck up some time), which I will probably waste on teaching my Nintendog new tricks and watching more TV. - AC”

“Cappy. Here’s the thing with this douchebag. Regardless of what we might snicker or say about these people behind their backs, everyone — Friendship included — was actually very nice and friendly to us, at least at a superficial level. The only person who gave any sort of attitude about a picture was this guy. “I have to be up at 4:30 AM,” he said brusquely as if this photo were to somehow take three freakin’ hours. What an idiot.”
